COMMUNIQUÉ of the ACP Group on the consultations held in Brussels, on 29 March 2011 between the European Union and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau under Article 96 of the Cotonou Agreement

1.On Tuesday 29 March 2011, consultations were held in Brussels between the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and the European Union, under Article 96 of the ACP-EU Cotonou Partnership Agreement.

DEEPLY CONCERNED by the continuing deadlock in the post-electoral crisis in Côte d’Ivoire characterized by the denial of the democratic rights of the Ivorian people, and by the escalation of the violence inflicted on the citizens of that country;

DECLARATION BY THE ACP COMMITTEE OF AMBASSADORS ON THE SITUATION IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE

The Committee of Ambassadors of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States,

1.Having examined, during its 836th meeting on 27 January 2011, the current political situation in Côte d’Ivoire since the announcement of the results of the second round of the presidential election, which was held on 28 November 2010;

DECLARATION OF THE ACP-EU JOINT PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY ON THE PROCLAMATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE 2ND ROUND OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION HELD IN COTE D’IVOIRE ON 28 NOVEMBER 2010

The ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly,

Meeting in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) from 2 to 4 December 2010,

Having regard to the provisions of the Electoral Code of Côte d’Ivoire;

Having regard to the Code of Conduct for political parties, groupings,political movements and candidates in the elections in Côte d’Ivoire;

Considering the risk that any blunder in the electoral process could entail for the political and social balance acquired, with difficulty, in Côte d’Ivoire, and for the stability of the entire sub-region;

COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE EXTRA-ORDINARY SUMMIT OF SADC HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT

1.The Extra-Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) was held in Gaborone, Republic of Botswana on November 20, 2010 on the margins of the official opening of the SADC Headquarters.
2.The Extra-Ordinary Summit was chaired by His Excellency Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia, and Chairperson of SADC.
3.The Extra-Ordinary Summit was attended by the following Heads of State and Government or their representatives:
