On 28th September 2018 the ACP Group of States and the EU began negotiations for a successor Agreement to the Cotonou Agreement which comes to an end in February 2020. This section contains all you need to know about the negotiations.

ACP Secretariat remembers iconic leader

Brussels, 6 December 2013/ ACP: Secretary General, H.E Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni led the ACP Secretariat in remembering iconic world leader and former South African President Nelson Mandela, who passed away last night at age 95.

About a hundred colleagues gathered at the ACP House to hear a tribute to the renowned and much-loved statesman, and to observe a minute of silence in his honour.

ACP Group backs LDC calls for success in Bali

Brussels, 2 December 2013/ WTO/ ACP: The coordinator of the ACP Group at the World Trade Organisation has welcomed a potential breakthrough in talks on trade facilitation, in the lead up to this week’s WTO ministerial conference in Bali, Indonesia from 3 to 6 December. 
 
The Bali Conference has been touted by international media as “pivotal” in the history of the organisation, and the last chance to advance the stalled Doha Development Agenda.
 

Eye on trade: The choice is yours - EU Trade Commissioner to ACP countries

Brussels, 2 December 2013/ ACP/ PCBE: As the world eyes the 9th ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organisation in Bali from 3 to 6 December, the European Union and the ACP Group of States continue to struggle with their own trade dilemmas, mainly in the form of the long-drawn-out negotiations on the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs).

ACP MPs warn of mounting instability in Central African Republic

Addis Ababa, 22 November 2013/ ACP: African Members of Parliament called for intensified support from the ACP Group and the international community for the worsening security situation in the Central African Republic, during political meetings held this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
 

Rule of law, good governance highlighted amidst calls for ACP stance against ICC proceedings

Addis Ababa, 22 November 2013/ ACP: Legislators from Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific meeting for the 34th ACP Parliamentary Assembly spoke vigorously on the rule of law and the role of judiciary in their countries, with some MPs backing a declaration against recent proceedings of the UN’s International Criminal Court involving serving African leaders.
