Update on Negotiations

On 28th September 2018 the ACP Group of States and the EU began negotiations for a successor Agreement to the Cotonou Agreement which comes to an end in February 2020. This section contains all you need to know about the negotiations.

ACP MPs warn of mounting instability in Central African Republic

Addis Ababa, 22 November 2013/ ACP: African Members of Parliament called for intensified support from the ACP Group and the international community for the worsening security situation in the Central African Republic, during political meetings held this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
 

Rule of law, good governance highlighted amidst calls for ACP stance against ICC proceedings

Addis Ababa, 22 November 2013/ ACP: Legislators from Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific meeting for the 34th ACP Parliamentary Assembly spoke vigorously on the rule of law and the role of judiciary in their countries, with some MPs backing a declaration against recent proceedings of the UN’s International Criminal Court involving serving African leaders.
 

Sustainable development, trade programmes on show at 4th ACP Open Day

NEWS: Mozambique plans to have taxes removed on exports to the EU

Maputo, 31 October 2013/ Macauhub/ Noticias: The Mozambican government will continue negotiating the removal of taxes it currently pays on exporting sugar to the European Union, the Minister for Industry and Trade, Armando Inroga said.
 

ECOWAS leaders committed to conclude development-friendly EPA with EU

Brussels, 28 October 2013/ ECOWAS/ ACP: Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) reiterated their commitment to the conclusion of an “equitable and development-oriented” Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Europe, following an extraordinary meeting held at Dakar, Senegal on Friday.
