On 28th September 2018 the ACP Group of States and the EU began negotiations for a successor Agreement to the Cotonou Agreement which comes to an end in February 2020. This section contains all you need to know about the negotiations.

Brussels, 22 September 2012/ ACP: Members of Parliament from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific met in Brussels this week to discuss issues pertinent to their countries and prepare for the upcoming Joint ACP-EU Parliamentary Assembly to be held in Paramaribo, Suriname in November.

 

EU Parliament debates ACP-EU free trade agreement deadline

Brussels, 12 September 2012/ ACP: The European Parliament is scheduled to vote this afternoon on whether to amend Council Regulation (EC) 1528/2007 – a move that may see a number of ACP countries lose duty free, quota free access to European markets if they fail to conclude trade talks by the end of 2013.

ACP trade officials tackle how to focus WTO talks on development

Nairobi KENYA, 11 September 2012/ ACP: A high level forum taking place this week in Nairobi, Kenya will allow trade officials from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific to address key issues from the WTO Ministerial Conference held last year, as well as new development challenges related to trade.

 

The forum is expected to yield recommendations for ACP countries to ensure development remains at the core of multilateral trade negotiations.

NEWS: Pacific ACP trade ministers urged to look beyond national interest in EPA talks

Nukualofa, TONGA, 16 August, 2012/ PIFS/ ACP: Trade Ministers of the Pacific ACP States have been urged to reach beyond their narrow national interests, and embrace their collective responsibility to each other when negotiating the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Commission (EC).
