PRESS RELEASE: Statement by the Secretary General following the agreement between the Government of Mali and the Touareg rebel groups

Brussels, 24 June 2013/ ACP Press Release: The Secretary-General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group), Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, was very pleased to endorse the agreement concluded in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) on 18 June 2013, between the Government of the Republic of Mali and the Tuareg rebel groups represented by the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) and High Council for the Azawad (HCA).

PRELIMINARY DECLARATION: ACP Observation Mission to the Legislative, Senatorial and Municipal Elections in Equatorial Guinea on 26 May 2013

1.      At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, a short-term Election Observation Mission of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) was dispatched to Malabo from 23 to 28 May 2013 to monitor the legislative, senatorial and municipal elections held in  that country on 26 May 2013.

Brussels, 7 June 2013/ ACP Press Release: The ACP Ministers who held with their EU partners a joint Council of Ministers in Brussels on 6-7 June are rather pleased with a compromise on the financial envelope of the 11th European Development Fund, and with a step made by the EU on the EPA. The ACP Group welcomes the approval of the request of Somalia for accession to the Cotonou Agreement.

Equatorial Guinea elections observed by ACP mission

Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, 27 May 2013/ ACP Press Release: A four-member delegation of the ACP Group have been in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea over the weekend to independently observe the legislative, senatorial and municipal elections held 26 May 2013. The elections are the first to be held in the country since the adoption of the new constitution on 13 November 2011.

In a Consultative Meeting held in Brussels on 29 and 30 April 2013, at the ACP House to discuss the implementation of "The outcomes of Rio+20 Conference: now, up to and beyond 2015" the representatives of the ACP governments have decided to establish an ACP Ad-hoc Working Group on the Post-2015 Process.   The meeting focused on the critical elements for the development of the post-2015 overarching framework, which will be very important to eradicating poverty in ACP Member States.
