ACP Trade Ministers reaffirm strong commitment to multilateral system

Brussels, 20 October 2017/ ACP: Ministers and senior officials responsible for Trade from 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries reaffirmed their strong and resounding commitment to the multilateral trading system, at the conclusion of the 20th ACP Ministerial Trade Committee meeting held in Brussels on 18-19 October.

EU sugar reform costs ACP and LDC sugar industries dearly

Brussels, 19 October 2017/ ACP: The regime that manages the EU sugar market changed from 1st October 2017 with the removal of domestic quotas.  Sugar suppliers to the EU under  Economic Partnership Agreement and the Everything But Arms (EBA) Initiative, comprised mostly of small and vulnerable economies, had strongly opposed the abolition of EU domestic sugar quotas when it was first mooted in 2013.

Brussels, 16 October 2017/ ACP: The Secretary General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States H.E. Dr. Patrick I. Gomes met with the President of the Togolese Republic H.E. Mr. Faure Gnassingbé on Monday 16th October, to lay the groundwork for preparations towards the forthcoming 107th session of the ACP Council of Ministers and 43rd session of the ACP-EU Joint Council.

EU and African, Caribbean, and Pacific partners reaffirm commitment for sustainable ocean governance

Malta, 6 October 2017/ EC/ ACP: In the framework of the 'Our Ocean' Conference, the European Union and the group of 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific states have reaffirmed today their support to the implementation of SDG 14 and have stressed their commitment to an ambitious, long-term vision of protection, valorisation, and sustainable use of our oceans, as well as to sustainable blue growth, and their willingness to intensify their coordinated action and cooperation.
 

Opening of the 5th ACP Meeting of Ministers in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture

Nassau, The Bahamas, 20 September 2017/ ACP: The 5th meeting of ACP Ministers in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture was formally opened today by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Dr. The Hon. Hubert A. Minnis at the Melia Hotel Convention Centre, in Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas.

ACP ministers to address critical development of fisheries sector

Brussels, 6 September 2017/ ACP: A major gathering of ministers and senior government officials from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands will take place in the Bahamas on 18-21 September. With up to USD 5.3 billion worth of fish exports entering the international market each year from these regions, the meeting seeks to reinforce shared commitments to improve governance and boost development of fisheries and aquaculture resources.

African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States condemns the terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain

Brussels, 18 August 2017/ ACP: The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) fervently condemn the hideous terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday 17th August 2017, which resulted in at least 14 people killed and more than a hundred injured. 
 
In these distressing and harrowing circumstances, the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of states reiterates its solidarity and commitment to combating all acts of terrorism and extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to the Government and people of Spain.
