ACP Group set-up Working Group to look at its future

ACP PRESS RELEASE: 31 January 2011 – The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group has launched an Ambassadorial Working Group on the Future Perspectives of the ACP Group last week in Brussels, Belgium.

The decision to set-up the Working Group was mandated by the 92nd Session of the ACP Council of Ministers held in Brussels in November 2010, in view of the expiry of the Cotonou Agreement with the European Union by the year 2020.

He expressed his Government’s pleasure in hosting the event stating that it showed the climate of tranquility that exists in the country after many years of conflict. ACP Parliamentarians begin meeting in Kinshasa

ACP PRESS RELEASE - Kinshasa, November 27 2010: Parliamentarians of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States started their meetings today in Kinshasa, the Democractic Republic of Congo with the meeting of the Political Affairs. The Committee Meetings are usually critical as it allows the ACP Parliamentarians to discuss at the committee level issues which will be discussed at the ACP Parliamentary Assembly, which starts on Monday and the 20th Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly that takes place from 2 to 4 December 2010.

2ND Ministerial Fisheries meeting of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States

1.The second meeting of the ACP Ministers in charge of Fisheries was held in Mahé (Seychelles) from 22nd to 25th November 2010. 2.It afforded the Ministers the opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing ACP States in this critical area and to agree on concrete measures intended to ensure the sustainability of aquatic resources with a view to their development. 3.It is against this backdrop that Ministers agreed to put in place a 5-year strategic plan of action which will include aquaculture and mariculture.

Secretary-General Dr. Chambas meets with President Zuma in Brussels

ACP Press Statement: Brussels 28 September: Secretary-General Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas made a courtesy call on the Republic of South African President H.E Jacob Zuma today in Brussels, Belgium.

Dr. Chambas expressed his appreciation to the President for agreeing to meet with him despite his tight-schedule.
