The Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States has learnt with great emotion and dismay about the particularly deadly attack carried out on a military base in Mali, on 2 November 2019, killing approximately 50 soldiers.

The Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States deplores and strongly condemns this attack, which has once again plunged into mourning a Member State that is resolutely at the forefront of the fight against terrorism in the West African region.

The Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States extends its heartfelt condolences to the People and Government of Mali, and the bereaved families. It reaffirms the Group’s unwavering solidarity with the Malian authorities, as well as those of the G5 Sahel Member States, which are beleaguered by terrorism and violent extremism.
