OACPS Centre for South-South and Triangular Cooperation Hosts Symposium in Sipopo, Equatorial Guinea

Brussels, 3 September 2021/OACPS: The Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), H.E. Mr Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti will today launch the new Centre for South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) at the first ever SSTC Symposium convened by the new Centre during his mission to Equatorial Guinea.

During the five-day Mission, which also aims to further enhance cooperation among the Members of the OACPS, the Secretary-General will meet with President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Mr Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to discuss the positive vision of the Head of State for the development of the African continent. The Secretary-General will also meet with other high-level members of the Government of Equatorial Guinea, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E. Mr Simeón Oyono Esono Angue.

The Symposium, which is titled “An expanded partnership as a means to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals”, is held under the patronage of the President of Equatorial Guinea. It is the first such symposium to be held within a Member State of the OACPS. The Symposium serves as the official launch of the operational activities of the OACPS Centre for South-South and Triangular Cooperation, with the aim of managing and sharing knowledge, best practices and technology transfer for the benefit of Members of the OACPS.

Secretary-General Chikoti is accompanied by Mrs Tchale Banata Sow, Assistant Secretary-General of the Department of  Macro-Economics, Development Finance and Intra-ACP Programming, and Mr Bagnénou Lamien, Expert – Global economic and financial matters, macroeconomic issues and budget support. H.E. Mr. Carmelo Nvono Ncá, Ambassador of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in Brussels, will also attend the Symposium, the organisation of which has been coordinated by the Head of the Centre for SSTC in Malabo, Mr Patrice Nyongabo.
