Brussels, 14 April 2022/OACPS: The Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), H.E. Mr Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, today visited H.E. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal and Chairperson of the African Union for the year 2022, to exchange views on issues of mutual interest, intra alia, the preparations for the implementation of the new OACPS-EU Partnership Agreement, including the African Regional Protocol.

Secretary-General Chikoti also briefed President Sall on the preparations for the upcoming 10th Summit of OACPS Heads of State and Government, which is expected to take place in Luanda, Angola in December 2022. He also took the opportunity to thank President Sall for Senegal’s continued commitment and support for the OACPS.

The Secretary-General's visit to Senegal follows his recent meeting with H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana on 7 April 2022, within the context of the 7th Meeting of OACPS Ministers in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture, in Accra, Ghana, which was hosted by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Ghana.

Secretary-General Chikoti is expected to meet with H.E. Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, in the capital, Bissau, on Friday, 15 April 2022.

At the beginning of his tenure in March 2020, Secretary-General Chikoti proposed a series of visits to all six OACPS regions to forge closer partnerships between the OACPS and its Members. These visits have been postponed to the present, as a result of the global lockdowns as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
