PRESS RELEASE: Targeted, effective cooperation between the EIB and the Finance Ministry in the fight against poverty in the ACP countries

Luxembourg, 5 July 2011 - The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Investment Bank are joining forces on a third technical assistance operation in support of microfinance. Luc Frieden, Finance Minister, and Philippe Maystadt, EIB President, today signed a new cooperation agreement that will bring together the expertise, networks and resources of the EIB and the Finance Ministry in order to develop microfinance and the private sector in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

ACP Press Release – Friday 24 June 2011: African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Secretary-General Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas today received the prestigious Crans Montana Foundation Prize along with other global leaders in Brussels, Belgium.

Dr. Chambas expressed his gratitude to the Crans Montana Forum Foundation for such an honour, especially when he was in a distinguished company of those that received the honour this year and those before them.

ACP Press Release: 22 June 2011: Members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Committee of Ambassadors visited the Belgian city of Liege today on the invitation of the Colleges and the city. The visit was organised by the City of Liege in partnership with the Organisation of La Francophine (OIF) in Brussels. The intention of the visit was to allow the ACP Ambassadors to visit key sites in the city and to meet with leaders of the province which is bidding to host the World Expo in 2017.
